Various leading parties involved in the movie business contacted us with the request to make the movie-going experience more social.
The objectives were clear: to create buzz around a movie and engage the audience in participating with social behaviour and sharing experiences.
What we do
To make the movie-going experience more social, we wanted to post photos, videos or posts in the cinema on social media. To make that happen, we created the Livecrowd Social Wall.
The social wall shows your posts with the hashtag from the movie on the cinema screen. We experienced that people were loving to share their content in the build-up to the actual start of the movie. Of course the fact that they could see their own posts on a huge IMAX screen works perfectly in today’s world of influencers. The silver lining would be to achieve a trending topic status for the specific hashtag.
In August 2016 Instagram came up with the ‘stories’-format and influencers were loving it. This became a way more used platform on social media than for example a simple post on twitter. In fact, Instagram Stories grew to 250 million daily active users within a year of its launch, and now has more users than its rival Snapchat Stories. This is why we created the ‘Livecrowd Stories Wall’. We use a specially developed API to aggregate Stories from relevant users. We can filter on hashtag, users, search terms and even (geo)location. After aggregating the various stories, we display them on the wall for everyone to check out.
Our goal is to fit each Livecrowd Social Wall / Stories Wall with the look & feel of the particular movie. Our graphic designers / editors make sure to make each and every wall stand out in their own way, complete with video overlays and animations.
We are not only creating more social traffic around the movie during the premiere with our walls. We also capture the vibe and unique feeling of the event itself by shooting an after movie. Most of the time we ask the guests to share their expectations beforehand and afterwards we record their genuine reactions to the movie. We also record specific shout-outs with influencers / celebrities / cast members which can be used in online / social advertising campaigns to generate ticket sales.
