We’ve been involved in the Dutch movie business for quite a while now, helping premieres in the Netherlands become more social and immersive experiences.

Our goal? To create hype around the movies and to engage the audience in ways that made the experience more interactive than ever before.

We believe that the movie-going experience is one that’s best shared. That’s why we created the Livecrowd Social Wall.

The Social Wall lets guests at the premiere see their social media posts on the huge IMAX screen – the same screen that will be showing the movie. How? By tagging a post with the designated hashtag, the post automatically gets added to the queue of posts to be displayed on that screen in our special format. We quickly realised two things – the influencers present loved doing this and the large-scale use of the hashtag made the move a trending topic.

August 2016 marked the birth of Instagram’s ‘stories’ feature, which became immensely popular – within a year, 250 million people were using the feature, daily. This is the foundation of our Stories Wall. The Wall uses special tools to aggregate Instagram Stories from relevant users. We use different filters for this including hashtag, usernames, search terms and even (geo)location. Then, the stories are displayed on the Social Wall for all to see.

To really make our Social Wall shine, we match each one to the style of the movie in question. Our content team makes sure each Wall feels like part of the movie experience, complete with video overlays and animations.

Our work doesn’t stop there, though. Premieres are very special to us and it kinda sucks when they end. That’s why we capture the magic of a premiere by shooting an aftermovie. Often, we’ll ask guests to share their expectations of the movie they’re about to watch. After the movie, we capture their genuine reactions, which often exceed the expectations they had. We also get influencers, celebrities and even cast members involved by recording shout-outs or other small segments that can be used in online or social advertising which helps generate ticket sales.
